Sam Higginbottom University Of Agriculture, Technology, And Sciences (SHUATS), Allahabad was established in 1910. The institute was formerly known as the Allahabad Agricultural Institute. An esteemed university, SHUATS has the honor of being the first agricultural university of India and the first such institute in south-east Asia. The mission of SHUATS is to “Serve the Land” and “Feed the Hungry”.

SHUATS is NAAC accredited with an ‘A’ grade and also categorized by MHRD, Govt. of India as ‘A’. The university was approved by UGC in 2000 and by ICAR and ICFRE in 2009. The university was founded by Dr. Sam Higginbottom, a former teacher of economics and science, a social worker who had the aim of bridging the gulf between modern farming technologies and the backward practices of the farmers.
